The function of the spark plug is to introduce the high voltage generated by the ignition coil into the engine cylinder, form a spark between its electrodes, and ignite the mixture. This process is similar to the ignition process of an ordinary lighter.

Common problems and faults of spark plugs

The spark plug electrode will be consumed during use, and the end surface of the central electrode will change to a circular arc shape, while the side electrode will change to a concave arc shape. This shape will increase the electrode gap. If the electrode gap is too large, or coke is mixed between the electrodes, it will cause ignition difficulties, causing insufficient engine power, weak acceleration, and shaking.
